1. Base fertilizer
The basic fertilizer used for summer corn cultivation is generally mixed with organic fertilizer and some chemical fertilizers, with a centralized furrow application effect.
2. Seed fertilizer
It is difficult to apply base fertilizer to plots intercropped with corn, and seed fertilizer can be used to solve the problem of nutrient supply. A small amount of farm manure (decomposed) can be used as seed fertilizer or urea as seed fertilizer, but the seeds and fertilizers must be isolated to prevent seedling damage.
It is advisable to use 3-4 kg of urea per mu.
3. Topdressing
The period, frequency, and quantity of topdressing should be comprehensively considered based on factors such as corn growth, fertilizer requirement period, and growth period.
Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers have a longer fertilizer efficiency, and there is a large demand for corn in the early stage. As a base fertilizer or seedling fertilizer, it can be applied once, with 25 to 35 kilograms of phosphorus fertilizer and 10-15 kilograms of potassium fertilizer applied per mu.
Topdressing of nitrogen fertilizer can adopt a three-step top-dressing method of light topdressing of seedling fertilizer, heavy topdressing of ear fertilizer, and supplementary topdressing of grain fertilizer: seedling fertilizer accounts for 30% of the total topdressing amount, and topdressing from seedling setting to jointing stage has the effect of strengthening seedlings, promoting seedlings, and strengthening stems.
Ear fertilizer accounts for about 50% of the total topdressing amount. Applying it at the big bell stage of corn can make the ear larger and have more grains.
Granular fertilizer accounts for 20% of the total topdressing amount, and is applied from tasseling to flowering to provide nutrients for the late growth period of maize, extending the green leaf function period.
